Boiling Oysters

Today I helped set up some new oysters in the incubator, this time placing them in water to see if they are more likely to open up if submerged. Two beakers were added, each housing one large oyster in either 80 ml of freshwater or 80ml of saltwater (with a salinity of 20ppt). A tray was used to submerge 6 seed oysters in freshwater and 6 seed oysters in salt water. These submerged oysters were added at around 10:22am, and the temperature remains 42 degrees C.

I also completed the fire extinguisher, managing lab chemicals, and HazCom online trainings. 

A webcam was later added to continually monitor the oysters remotely.
